Brothers and Sisters in Christ,   
       How are we to speak the truth in love? We are to speak with civility. The truth is that others, even those with whom we disagree, are made in the image of God. They may not be right, but we can tell them what God says and share this with them because we love them and want what is best for them. And what is better for someone than for them to know and love and be known by the true and living God? 
       Day 5 of VBS happens today. Kids learned that because truth comes from God, Jesus is the only way to God, and today, we are to speak the truth in love. Counselors have staff devotions this morning and they are thinking through questions like: “Why do people lie? What are the pitfalls or problems caused by only speaking the truth (without love)? What does it look/sound like to speak the truth in love? What are some truths that our friends and family need to hear from us?” How would you answer these questions? 
 
       Reminder: Tomorrow, August 10, CrossPoint Community is hosting a Summer Potluck from 12 to 3 pm, in the Main Cafeteria at CBCGL. Join us for the CPC Summer Fun Event! You can sign up via this link; and you can let us know what you plan to bring for the potluck via this link. We will have time for a shared meal, games and even a scavenger hunt. Games are designed for participants of all ages and athletic/skill levels. There is a game for everyone! 
       This event is for all adults in CPC and their families. So, yes, that means our visitors, that means you college students, that means you members who generally join online, and those who call CPC their church congregation. We want to get together to have time to get to know one another, get to know what CPC has to offer, and how you can participate in our regular activities. So please, Save the Date, clear your schedule, invite your friends, and let us know you’re coming by signing up in the forms above. (Note: please do sign-up, but if you forget to sign-up, you can still show up!) 
 
       Also, do you have used electronics or musical instruments just sitting at home? We are blessed to be a blessing. If you find old electronics or forgotten musical instruments at home, you can bring them to church to be collected for Pastor Benjamin Owino of Let the Needy Smile. He has returned to the States for a season to revisit churches and renew connections to continue to support his ministry to AIDS orphans and churches in Eastern Uganda. If you need help with wiping your personal info from your device, let us know. Provide your passcode/password so we can access your device and we’ll have Joshua Zhang help you with removing your personal info. 
 
Please continue to pray for the nations of Israel and Ukraine. Pray that the wars would end. And https://worldrelief.org/blog-prayer-for-israel-and-gaza/ Thank you for kneeling on behalf of the people of Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Gaza and taking a stand (or a knee in prayer) against the forces of darkness in this present age.

4. Each Wednesday, such as this coming week (August 14) at 7:45 pm, you are invited, encouraged, and requested to join our weekly prayer meeting. We will not grow in Christ without growing in our dependence on God through prayer. In August, we are taking time to pray for neighbors and friends. The link is found below in the section on prayer.

Administration / Events

1. We have a missions update (so check out the missions tab in the bulletin)! You can provide support for James Liang (at UConn), or pray for Rob and Lisa who are serving in the Netherlands (though they are presently on Sabbatical in the US). They have been busy with graduation events, and are now working on resting and being rejuvenated for the work ahead!

2. Sunday Lunch Service is available at CBCGL with $5 lunches that are first-come, first-served. Lunch service will resume again on September 8.

3. Join us for the CPC Summer Fun event tomorrow – August 10, from 12 pm to 3 pm. We hope you can make it. For more information, see above!

4. From now to August 25 – CPC will have a combined Sunday School discussing Christian Civility. If you don’t know what that is, come and learn! And if you do know what that is, come and practice it!

5. The youth ministry is seeking those interested in teaching or mentoring the youth this school year (2024-2025).​ Please speak with Minister Jin Kim if interested!
