Brothers and Sisters in Christ,   
 
    This weekend is Labor Day weekend. With the holiday, and with the anticipation of people travelling, and with the Cantonese congregation hosting a retreat, there are some changes to our regular activities. 
     Today, Pastor Owino will receive the donations of musical instruments and electronics which we have been collecting for months. Pray that they would be a blessing to those who receive them!
     Tonight, we do not have fellowship or Bible Study. Take the time to rest, to reconnect with the Lord, and to worship the Lord. 
     Tomorrow, on Saturday, Aug. 31st, the CPC Gym time is cancelled because the Cantonese congregation will be hosting a retreat with over 115 people attending for the Labor Day weekend. Pray that God would work and that his people would respond in trust and obedience. 
     On Sunday, with the start of the fall Sunday school term, we will have a Sunday school on Church History. Even if you know something of the past in the church, come to learn more about how the church has advanced throughout the millennia. The Lord is still at the head of his body, the church, today. 
     Also on Sunday, with the Mandarin congregation not having Sunday school because of the holiday weekend, children will be joining us for worship. Please welcome the children and the youth and each other! 
     Finally, because it is the holiday weekend, there are no regular church meetings on Sunday. The CPC ministry committee meeting is postponed to Sept. 8, as is the Church Council meeting.  
     Enjoy the Holiday and give thanks to God who has given you the ability and agency to work! 
 
Please continue to pray for the nations of Israel and Ukraine. Pray that the wars would end. 4. Each Wednesday, such as this coming week (September 4) at 7:45 pm, you are invited, encouraged, and requested to join our weekly prayer meeting. We will not grow in Christ without growing in our dependence on God through prayer. In September, we will be praying using some of the promises of God. The link is found below in the section on prayer.

Administration / Events

1. We have a missions update (so check out the missions tab in the bulletin)! You can provide support for James Liang (at UConn), and pray for Candy Zhang who is serving in the UK with COCM. She has many reasons to praise God!

2. Sunday Lunch Service is available at CBCGL with $5 lunches that are first-come, first-served. Lunch service will resume again, next Sunday, on September 8.
