History of the Chinese school
Lowell Chinese Bible Church began working in Lowell in 1990. In view of the needs of the children of the Church brothers and sisters to learn Chinese, the Lowell Chinese Church of Chinese experimental class was formally set up in September 1990 after the approval of the church deacons and more than half a year’s planning, preparation, and consultation. The aim was to understand the feasibility of the Chinese class and to reduce the hardship of the church’s brothers and sisters to send their children to the mother church to learn Chinese. We were also looking forward to the opportunity of reaching out to the Chinese in the vicinity and to preach the gospel. At the beginning, there were about 40 students, divided into six classes, 14 teachers, and three staff members. After more than one years of adjustment, the class was officially renamed Lowell Chinese Bible Church Chinese School in the following year. In September 1993, Cantonese and extra-curricular activities were also set up for Cantonese-language needs. There was steady growth in the number of students each year, reaching nearly 100 students in five years. There were a total of 14 classes, 27 teachers, and four staff members. The school moved its site from Downs Professional building Lowell and the Elementary School of Peter Reily Lowell. With the construction of Littleton Road, Building B, Chelmsford, the school moved from a decentralized classroom to a large new campus, increasing the number of services for Chinese children and non-Chinese community opportunities. The parent and parental activities were formally established in 1997 and Hanyu Pinyin class was formally established in September 1998. The school expanded to 18 classes and 166 students in 2000.
The establishment of Learning Center
Since its beginning, the Chinese school has always been in the spirit of serving the community and contributing to the church, which is obligated by the church and the brothers and sisters in the community. We extend our sincere thanks to the faculty and staff who have contributed to this work. In order to meet the new needs under the new form, starting from 2004-05, the school began to pay a salary to the teachers in order to ensure the quality of teaching. to enhance the teachers’ sense of responsibility, and to reward the teachers for their hard work. At the same time, from 2004-05 year onwards, the school’s unit, Lowell Chinese Bible Church Education Center began to open dance, music, sports, arts, mathematics, writing and other aspects of extra-curricular courses for students to choose from. At this point, the school’s new initiatives have been widely welcomed by the community.
